Haley, Bill - Rock n roll is born

Rare!

This British DVD is recent (2008?) and hard to find, but well worth the effort. It fills in the gaps between hillbilly music, R & B and rock and roll. Bill Haley is the true white pioneer of rock and roll. He was recording rock and roll 3 years before Elvis ever set foot in a recording studio. This DVD tells his story with unedited performance footage from the extremely rare 1954 film »Roundup of Rhythm« which shows Haley and his Comets before »Rock Around the Clock« was a hit. American critics have almost always discounted him and his music and created the »rock and roll was invented in Memphis by Elvis and Sam Phillips« myth. I'm glad that European fans and critics have recognized Haley's importance from the start. If you want to hear great music and see a forgotten pioneer, then I highly recommend this DVD.
