Vanguard Records stod sentralt på 60-tallet

Det hender at den store platesamleren i himmelen bøyer seg ned og påvirker vår felles jukebox. Uka etter at Doc Watson dør, slipper plateselskapet Vanguard en stor 85 spors antologi, fordelt på 4 CDer, der nettopp Doc Watson er representert med en av sine store innspillinger, »Deep River Blues«.

Samlingen bærer tittelen »Make it your Sound, Make it your Scene, Vanguard Records & The 1960s Musical Revolution«.

Vanguard Records ble dannet i 1950 av brødrene Maynard og Seymour Solomon og ga til å begynne med ut klassisk musikk. Ganske raskt ble de innvolvert i jazz, folk og blues.
